FLOOD DAMAGE BUT NO FLOOD INSURANCE
If your house was flooded and you have flood damage but no flood insurance, there are relief options available through FEMA and other local relief agencies. However, your flood damage could have been caused by overdevelopment or improper development in your neighborhood or near your neighborhood. If there are new shopping centers or megabox retailers like Home Depot, WalMart, Target or HEB, they have a responsibility to NOT increase the volume or speed of water as it crosses their property and exits their property. Another potential cause of new damage to existing homes in older neighborhoods is residential development and home building. Start looking around and observe what is happening on any ground higher than yours. Look for flows that empty into creeks, bayous or even rivers. You may not have insurance for flooding, but there might be causes all around that can be held responsible.
